MILWAUKEE (AP) - Marquette raced to the game's first 18 points and Cordell Henry scored 17 points to lead the Golden Eagles to a 66-47 victory over Centenary in Friday night's opening round of the Blue and Gold Coca-Cola Classic.
The Golden Eagles (2-1) will play Cal State Northridge (4-1) for the tournament title at 8 p.m. Saturday following the consolation game between Centenary (2-3) and Kent State (1-2).
Marquette led 18-0 before Centenary scored on a free throw by Ronnie McCollum with 11:33 left in the first half. The Golden Eagles led 27-18 at halftime.
After allowing the first field goal of the second half, Centenary used a 10-1 run, highlighted by two 3-pointers by McCollum, to close to 30-28.
Henry then scored Marquette's next nine points, including a three-point play on a drive down the lane. The Golden Eagles led 47-36 with 7:24 left and Centenary didn't get closer than six the rest of the way.
It was 56-47 when Henry hit a 3-pointer to start a 10-0 run to close the game.
McCollum had 21 points to lead Centenary.
Brian Wardle added 14 points and Jon Harris 10 for Marquette.
