Marquette Volleyball Drops Match To Arkansas State

Milwaukee -- The Marquette volleyball team dropped its opening-round match of the Tiger Invitational to Arkansas State, 11-15, 2-15, 15-13, 10-15. The Invitational is being held at the Hearnes Center on the campus of Missouri.
Freshman outside hitter Ann Lopata (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) led the Golden Eagles with 22 attacks while junior middle Mehgan Devine (Harris, Minn.) totaled 20 kills. Freshman Megan Markowski (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) registered a team-high 18 digs.
As a team, Marquette hit 24.1 percent for the match (72-31--170) compared to Arkansas State's effort of 32.3 percent (72-20--161). The Golden Eagles finished with 69 digs vs. 67 for ASU.
MU, 0-4 on the year, hopes to notch its first win of the young campaign later on in the day (4:30 p.m.) when it takes on Morgan State. On Saturday, the Golden Eagles face TCU (11:30 a.m.) and Missouri (7:00 p.m.).
