Women's Soccer Defeats Louisville, 3-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Three first half goals lead 18th ranked Marquette to a 3-0 win over Louisville in women's soccer Sunday afternoon.
Senior forward Jenny Strachota (Milwaukee, Wis.) opened the scoring in the seventh minute when she converted a cross from sophomore midfielder Kristen Jensen (Shorewood, Ill.) to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage. It was Strachota's fifth on the season.
Junior forward Kate Gordon (Sioux City, Iowa) then put Marquette up 2-0 in the 27th minute on a pass from sophomore midfielder Carolyn Klopp (Glendale, Wis.) for Gordon's sixth goal of the season.
Senior forward Jill Vendetti (Franklin, Mass.) capped the scoring when she broke in, was thwarted by Cardinal keeper Meredith Miller on her first attempt, gathered the rebound and scored her fourth on the year in the 35th minute.
The Golden Eagles are now 11-3-0, 7-1-0 in conference play. Louisville to 4-10-0, 2-5-0 in Conference USA.
Marquette continues its season with its final home contest of the season on Friday, Oct. 26 against Saint Louis at Valley Fields at 7 p.m.
