Men's Track Team Finished 5th at Conference USA Meet

The Marquette men's track team returned from the Conference USA Championships in Houston with a no. 5 finish to their credit.
The Golden Eagles were strong in the field, taking second, third and sixth in the weight throw. Senior Heath Roussel finished second, with a throw of 53-7. Senior Greg Uher came in right behind him, throwing a season-best 50-10. Freshman Chris Schwandt threw a personal best 46-5.25, earning him the no. 9 spot on the all-time list. Schwandt and Uher also competed in the shot put, where Uher placed third and Schwandt threw a season best.
In the 60-meter hurdles junior Cameron Harvey ran a personal best time (8.40), and is now ranked 4th on the all-time list. In the 400 meters, sophomore Marek Krawczyk finished second, tying a school record (48.73) and besting his old personal best.
The Golden Eagles had a solid showing in the distance events. In the 800 meters, junior Luke Kunze finished 3rd, running a personal-best time of 1:55.62. Freshman Ryan Jacobson finished 8th and senior Ken Mueller ran a season best time for him. Kunze also placed in the Mile, finishing sixth. In the 3000 meters senior Joe Herington finished 6th, and senior Joel Brusewitz finished 7th, running a personal best (8:35.68). Brusewitz also placed 7th in the 5000-meter run.
The distance medley relay (senior Eric Sanchez, junior Brian Hardin, senior Greg Miller and senior Jon Chenier) finished 2nd, with a time of 10:16.56.
The men will be in Ames, Iowa on Friday, competing in the Last Chance meet, before the Indoor Championships start on Saturday.
