After getting chased inside due to chilly weather and rain, the University of Memphis men's tennis team nabbed its seventh win of the season, and its first over a Conference USA opponent, with a 5-2 win over Marquette, Saturday.
The Golden Eagles won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles in two sets when Peter Mojzis downed Richard Magney, 6-4, 6-4, and Bart Condemeyer downed Joe Schmulian, 6-4, 7-6.
Marquette won the No. 1 doubles and the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, but Memphis, led by the line-up from No. 3 to No. 6 singles took the victory.
The Tigers took the doubles point, 8-6, at No. 2 and No. 3, but the No. 1 tandems for both teams battled before the team of Peter Mojzis/Raj Gill won a tie-breaker, 9-8, for Marquette's only doubles win.
