Men's Track Finishes Sixth at C-USA Championships

TAMPA, Fla. - The Marquette men's track team finished sixth among 10 teams at the 2001 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on the campus of South Florida.
Sixteen finals were held on the final day in the men's division with MU picking up one victory. Senior Greg Uher was the winner in the discus with a throw of 177 feet, two inches. He picked up 10 points toward the Golden Eagles' team total.
Marquette picked up two second place finishes, each earning eight team points in the overall competition. Ryan Jacobson turned in a time of 1:51.86 in the 800 meters to place behind Clement Abai of Tulane who posted a 1:50.51. Also finishing second for MU was Joe Herrington in the 5,000 meters. Solomon Kandie of Tulane won the event with a time of 14:45.05. Herrington came in at just over a second behind with a time of 14:46.38.
Marek Krawczyk turned in a third place performance in the 400 meters with a time of 47.62. He placed behind Chris Ingram of Memphis (47.33) and Kenny Johnson of Southern Miss (47.35).
Other point scorers for MU in the final day of the meet were Brian Hardin (sixth, 400 meters), Ken Mueller (fifth, 800 meters), Luke Kunze (fourth, 1,500 meters), Nic Wurcherer (fifth, 110 meter hurdles) and the 4x400 meter relay team (fourth).
