Marquette Volleyball Falls In Four At Saint Louis

Milwaukee - The Marquette volleyball team dropped its third match in a row this evening as it came out on the short end of a hard-fought contest to Saint Louis. The Billikens upped their record to 15-8 overall (5-2 C-USA) following a 30-27, 19-30, 30-26, 31-29 verdict over the Golden Eagles who saw their record slip to 10-10 overall, 1-6 in the conference.
Sophomore Shannon Devine (Harris, Minn.) and freshman Aga Niemcezewska (Vernon Hills, Ill.) paced the Marquette attack with 15 kills each while Devine also chipped in 10 digs, her seventh double double of the season. Freshman Jessica Klein (Lena, Ill.) posted 12 kills and hit a team-best 33.3 percent (12-3--27), and freshman Theresa Coughlin rounded out the double-figure attackers with 11 kills. Sophomore Erin Freer (Stevensville, Mich.) paced all players with 19 digs while junior setter Gemma Greer (Winfield, Ill.) dished out 50 assists.
For the match, Saint Louis hit 23.5 percent (65-25--170) compared to Marquette's 18.2 percent (61-31--165). The Golden Eagles finished with a 69-59 edge in digs while the Billikens enjoyed an 11-9 margin in total blocks.
Saint Louis was led by Colleen Hunter who posted a match-leading 26 kills.
Marquette continues C-USA road action on Saturday (Oct. 26) when it plays at Memphis (16-10, 1-5).
