Marquette Volleyball Drops Match at Memphis

Milwaukee - The Marquette volleyball team ran into a red-hot Memphis squad Saturday evening and dropped a Conference USA road contest to the Tigers. The Golden Eagles came out on the short end of a 25-30, 18-30, 27-30 verdict to Memphis that raised its mark to 17-10, 2-5 in the league. Marquette fell to 10-11 in overall action, 1-7 in the conference.
The Memphis offensive attack was in high gear as it hit 34.5 percent (55-15--116) for the match compared to Marquette's 20.7 percent (41-18--111). Memphis turned in a 44-40 advantage in digs and a 10-6 edge in total blocks.
Freshman Aga Niemcezewska (Vernon Hills, Ill.) led the Marquette effort with 12 attacks while classmate Jessica Kelin (Lena, Ill.) came up with 10 kills along with a team-best 36.8 hitting percentage (10-3--19). Sophomore Erin Freer (Stevensville, Mich.) recorded nine digs while junior Gemma Greer (Winfield, Ill.) registered 32 assists.
Marquette's next action takes place on Friday, Nov. 1, when it hosts TCU at the Marquette Gym starting at 7:00 p.m.
