Women's Tracksters Try to Improve Marks

INDIANAPOLIS -- Four MU women's track and field athletes competed at the Bulldog Last Chance meet hosted by Butler University. Two of the four -- Brianna Dahm and Julie Sorrentino -- have provisional qualifying marks and look to compete at the NCAA Championships. The other two -- Jennifer Batie and Crystal Larson -- had marks just shy of qualifying. Unfortunately, none of the three competing in their chosen event were able to improve their mark.
Dahm ran the 1,500 meters just to stay sharp for the 3,000 meter steeplechase, which she will run at the NCAA Championships. Dahm finished second of three in the 1,500 with a time of 4:32.92.
Batie also finished second in the 800 meter run with a mark of 2:10.11. The provisional qualifying mark was 2:07.50. Her best time this season was 2:07.61.
Sorrentino and Larson competed in the hammer throw. Sorrentino's mark of 59.93 meters at the MU Invitational was a provisionally qualifying mark, but she could not improve in this meet, finishing second at 54.44. Larson also fell short of the qualifying standard of 56.00 meters with a heave of 51.42 meters.
