Marquette Volleyball Tops Southeast Missouri State

Milwaukee - The Marquette volleyball closed out its appearance at the Hampton Inn/Jayhawk Classic this afternoon with a three-game win over Southeast Missouri State. The Golden Eagles boosted their record to 6-3 overall following a 31-29, 30-28, 30-21 triumph. Southeast Missouri saw its record fall to 5-6 with the loss.
Freshman Theresa Coughlin (Chicago, Ill.) played a key role in the win for Marquette with a match-high 18 kills along with an outstanding 45.5 hitting percentage (18-3-33). Freshman Aga Niemcezewska (Vernon Hills, Ill.) came up with 12 kills for the Golden Eagles while sophomore Shannon Devine (Harris, Minn.) and senior Danielle Hagen (Milwaukee) rounded out the team's double-figure attackers with 11 and 10, respectively.
For the match, Marquette hit 26.3 percent (58-23-133) compared to Southeast Missouri's 24.6 percent (46-18-114).
