The Marquette men's and women's track and field teams swept the Carthage Invite both taking first place at Saturday's meet in Kenosha, Wis.
Sophomore Crystal Andalcio-O'Neil continued her strong start to the indoor season as she took first place in both the 55 Meter and 200 Meter. Andalcio-O'Neil's time of 25.87 in the 200 Meter broke her own meet record that was set last season. Her 55 Meter time of 7.12 was a personal best.
The 2002 Conference USA 5,000 Meter Indoor champion, senior Susan Barth, took first place in the 5,000 Meter with a time of 17:22.10. Barth's time was a Carthage Fieldhouse Record.
Freshmen sisters Susana and Theresa Emond were right behind Barth, taking second and third, respectively. Susana finished with a time of 18:04.93 and Theresa's time was 18:46.42.
The women's 4x400 Meter Relay team edged out the team from Wis.-Milwaukee by one second to finish first in the race. The men's 4x200 Meter Relay team established a meet record with a time of 1:32.22.
On the field, Marquette dominated the Shot Put, placing the top three throws. Freshman Heather Thomason notched her first ever first place finish with a throw of 40 feet. Senior Crystal Larson was second with a throw of 39 feet ? inch and senior Amy Merrill took fourth with a throw of 37-2 ?. Larson also too second in the Weight Throw with a throw of 51-7 ?.
Sophomore Charles Mashozhera was also a star for Marquette in the field as he took first place in the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Mashozhera set a meet record in the Long Jump with a jump of 22-7 ?, a personal best. His jump of 49-8 ? was also a meet record.
Sophomore DeMarques Potter improved on last week's personal best in the 200 Meter with today's time of 22.79. Potter took first place in the race. Senior Nic Wucherer took first place in the 55 Meter High Hurdles with a time of 7.81.
Marquette will compete at the Wisconsin Quadrangular in Madison, Wis. on Saturday, Jan. 25.
