Marquette junior Brianna Dahm was named Conference USA Athlete of the Week today following her performance at the Cyclone Classic last Saturday.
Dahm recorded an NCAA provisional time of 9:22.07 to finish third in the 3,000-meter run at the Cyclone Classic in Ames, Iowa. Her time established a new school record, breaking her own mark set during the 2002 season.
Dahm recorded a NCAA Provisional mark in the 3,000m last season, but that time didn't qualify for the Championship meet. She did participate in the 2002 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 3,000m Steeplechase.
Dahm's time is currently tops in C-USA and 19th in the nation. There have been 16 automatic qualifiers in the women's 3,000m indoor. Dahm narrowly missed the automatic qualifier time of 9:20.00.
This is the second time Dahm earned Athlete-of-the-Week honors, the first was Apr. 30, 2002. There have been 12 Marquette women who have been C-USA Athlete-of-the-Week.
