Binkley, Vedrickas to 2004 Men' All-American
10/1/2004 12:00:00 AM | Men's Tennis
Brett Binkley and Eigis Vedrickas will first play in the pre-qualifying and qualifying rounds which run through Oct. 6, in the hopes of seeing some action in the main draw, Oct. 7-10.
Coach Steve Rodecap said this tournament provides a great opportunity for his two players.
?This is one of the most prestigious tournaments for college tennis,? he said. ?The best players throughout the country and the best programs in the country will all be there.
?This will be a good opportunity for Brett to show what he is capable of doing. Both Eigis and Brett have worked extremely hard this fall and are excited to be competing at the All-American this weekend.?
There will be over 350 players from more than 70 schools competing in the first of three ITA tournaments to take place this season. For a player starting in the pre-qualifying rounds, up to seven matches must be won just to reach the main draw.
Rodecap says that playing with so many established tennis programs provides great exposure for Marquette.
?It is a great chance for Eigis and Brett to play at a very high level nationally and give Marquette University and our program exposure at the highest level,? he said.
