Off to its third 4-0 start in school history, Marquette looks to extend its hot start and preserve perfection in the Al McGuire Center, taking on Wisconsin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at the Al McGuire Center.
Marquette?s hot start is thanks in large part to its high-scoring inside game. The Golden Eagles scored 58 of its 73 points inside the paint. Marquette is hitting 44.8 percent of its shots, led by the inside effort of Jasmine McCullough, who is scoring at a 62.5 percent clip.
The Golden Eagles offensive numbers are up. Marquette is averaging 72.0 points per game and has already passed the 70 point mark three times. Last season, Marquette scored 70 or more eight times.
With a Win against Wisconsin ...
Marquette would be 5-0 for the first time in as school history ... Marquette would be 11-0 in the Al McGuire Center ... Marquette would own a 14-game home win streak ... Marquette would have wins over two of the three Wisconsin schools, with Wis.-Green Bay on the schedule next.
Scouting Wisconsin
Wisconsin started the season in impressive fashion, going 2-0, scoring 82 points in both games and holding opponents to 51.0 points per game. The average win margin of 31.0 points per game was quickly eliminated by a pair of losses in the Houston Classic.
Wisconsin lost to Houston and Middle Tennessee State to enter the Marquette contest at 2-2.
A pair of freshmen have been sparks to the Wisconsin offensive attack. Guards Janese Banks and Jolene Anderson are averaging 9.3 and 16.5 points per game respectively. They are joined by senior Stephanie Rich?s 11.3 points per game and junior Jordan Wilson?s 10.3 points per game. The hefty totals in the first two contests have Wisconsin?s per game scoring total inflated to 74.8 points per game.
Wisconsin head coach Lisa Stone is her second season at Wisconsin, where she owns a 12-19 record. She has been a head coach for 20 seasons and owns a 387-137 mark.
