Members of the Marquette men's and women's track and field teams took advantage of a sunny, spring day in Milwaukee to take part in "Siefert's Running for Success" at Bus Shimek Memorial Track at Valley Fields today.
The track and field teams worked with 24 Fifth graders from Siefert Elementary School and taught them techniques of sprints, jumps, relays and throws.
"Our goal was to teach the basic fundamentals of athletics and to have fun," said Marquette's assistant track and field coach Ray Williams. "We also talked about the road to success and the importance of setting goals."
The track and field team has worked with children from Siefert Elementary School throughout the 2003-04 season. Earlier this spring, members of the team took part in the National Educational Association's "Read Across America" program to help celebrate Dr. Seuss' 100th birthday.
