Cross Country Teams Compete at Pre-National Invitational

The Marquette men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Pre-National Invitational on Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind.
On the men's side, the Golden Eagles finished 33rd overall as a team in the White race, compiling 845 points. Josh Pinter was MU's first finisher, crossing the line in 154th place, covering the five-mile course in a time of 25:40. Jeremy Williams (160, 25:46), David Henderson (162, 25:47), and Kyle Saginus (165, 25:51) ran as a pack, finishing within five seconds of each other. Drew Craig rounded out the Marquette scorers, finishing 204th in a time of 26:30. Scott Allen was 221st (27:17). Colorado won the team title, with 70 points, while Liberty's Josh McDougal captured individual honors in a time of 23:13.
The No. 25 ranked women's team finished 11th in the White race, totalling 342 points. Michaela Courtney was the first MU runner to cross the finish line, finishing 30th overall while clocking a time of 21:18 for the six-kilometer course. The 2-5 finishers for the Golden Eagles crossed the line within 13 seconds of each other, as Heidi Lindeman was 64th (21:45), Susie Emond was 79th (21:54), Jodi Jakubek was 84th (21;56) and Terri Emond was 85th (21:58). Cassie Peller (98, 22:08) and Alli Sauer (147, 22:40) rounded out the Marquette performers.
Next up for Marquette is the BIG EAST Championship, held at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. on Oct. 28.
