Mueller Earns Spot on BIG EAST Honor Roll

Outside hitter earns first BIG EAST weekly accolade, team?s fifth
PROVIDENCE, R.I. ? Junior outside hitter Jamie Mueller earned BIG EAST accolades this week as she was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the week of October 24, announced today by conference officials. This is Mueller?s first BIG EAST weekly honor of the season, the Golden Eagles fifth.
Mueller earned the honor for her performance last weekend helping the Golden Eagles (11-10, 4-5 BIG EAST) to record another two-match spilt, falling to St. John?s, 3-1 on Saturday, but bouncing back to defeat Connecticut, 3-1 on Sunday. Mueller led Marquette?s attack recording back-to-back matches of double figured kills slamming a career high 26 against the Redstorm and 16 in the win over UConn. The junior outside hitter added 16 digs against St. John?s and 15 digs at UConn notching her eighth and ninth double double of the season.
Joining Mueller on this week?s honor roll was Louisville?s Lena Ustymenko, DePaul?s Morgan Ingersoll, Syracuse?s Kelly Duan and Seton Hall?s Jessica King. Notre Dame?s Adrianna Stasiuk was named player of the week, while Cincinnati?s Jessie Nevitt was selected rookie of the week.
The Golden Eagles return to the friendly confines of the Al McGuire Center this week hosting a pair of BIG EAST Conference matches. Marquette will play Villanova (18-5, 6-2) on Friday, October 28, at 7 p.m. and Rutgers (9-12, 4-4) on Sunday, October 30, at 2 p.m.
