The No. 29 ranked women's squad will face off against two other nationally ranked teams in the conference championship - No. 4 Notre Dame and #16 Providence. For the past five seasons, the Golden Eagles have captured the COonference USA team title. But entering the BIG EAST this season, head coach Dave Uhrich is excited for his team's chances.
"We have been looking forward to this weekend ever since we found out that we would be joining the BIG EAST Conference." said Uhrich. "I have such great respect for this conference and the programs in it and I am proud to finally be a part of it. Our team realizes the challenges that we are up against on Friday and we feel we are ready to be competitive in our Big East debut."
On the men's side, the Golden Eagles will be toeing the line against two top 10 teams, in No. 5 Notre Dame and No. 9 Georgetown.
"We have struggled a bit this year with some nagging injuries and red-shirting last years MVP, but I think our young team has learned a lot this season and we are confident that we will have our best race of the season on Friday." Uhrich said.
The women's six-kilometer race begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by the men's five-mile race at 12:10 p.m.
