Women's Cross Country Team No. 25 in National Poll

The Marquette University Women?s Cross Country team fell three spots in this week?s FinishLynx NCAA Division I Cross Country to No. 25. The third poll from the 2005 season has the Golden Eagles with 86 points, only one point behind Northern Arizona and twenty ahead of No. 26 Boston College. Duke University remains in first place for the third consecutive week with 390 points including 13 first place votes.
This past weekend the women earned a team victory at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational, capturing the Gold race while totaling 54 points. Sophomore Cassie Peller paced the MU field with a fourth place finish with a time of 17:43. Following not far behind was Michaela Courtney who finished fifth.
The Marquette men and women return to action next Saturday, October 15th. The A Team travels to the Pre-Nationals at Terre Haute, Ind. The B Team heads to Kenosha to participate in the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational.
The FinishLynx NCAA Division I poll is voted on by a representative head coach from each of the nine regions, as well as four at-large members of the Women?s Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association.
