"We certainly we hoping to finish higher today, but to qualify for nationals, you have to be one of the top teams in the country. We're proud of that." said head coach Dave Uhrich. "It was one of those races where we ran ok, but in order to finish among the top teams, you need to have a great race."
This was the Golden Eagles' sixth consecutive trip to the national championship race. Marquette is one of just 10 schools nationally to have qualified for the previous six NCAA cross country championships.
"Overall, we had an excellent year. We made it to nationals for a sixth straight season and had some great races, especially at our first-ever BIG EAST Championship." Uhrich said. "It is a season to build on, as we have some very talented young runners returning. Our ultimate goal next season is not not just make it to nationals, but we aspire to finish among the top teams."
