Dwyane Wade headlines 2005 Tip-Off Dinner

Held at the Alumni Memorial Union on Marquette?s campus, the evening featured introductions of the players and basketball staff, as well as a special appearance by former MU great Dwyane Wade.
One of the NBA?s brightest stars, Wade spent the evening reminiscing, signing autographs, and posing for photographs before taking the podium to address the crowd.
During his speech Wade reflected on his time at the school, spoke of the pride he feels each time he?s introduced prior to an NBA game as hailing from Marquette University, and urged the current collection of Golden Eagles to cherish this time in their lives.
Wade closed by thanking the entire Marquette community for their help and support during his three years in Milwaukee, specifically head coach Tom Crean who Wade credits for making him a better friend, husband and father.
A number of Marquette basketball alumni were in attendance including Bob Hutchinson, Robert Jackson, Jim McIlvaine, Hank Raymonds and Earl Tatum.
Marquette opens the season under the direction of seventh-year head coach Tom Crean on Thursday, November 10th at 7 p.m. against Michigan Tech at the Bradley Center. The team opens regular season play on Friday, November 18th against Rice in the opening round of the 44th Pepsi Blue & Gold Classic.
