The 6-1 forward averaged 21.0 points and 4.0 rebounds, while shooting 65% from the floor (13-20) - including 66.7% from three-point land - and 80% from the charity stripe (12-for-15). On Dec. 6, Quaye's season-high 23 points helped the Golden Eagles bounce back from a 17-point deficit in the second half to pull away from St. John's, 60-57, in a nationally televised game at home. It was MU's first-ever win in BIG EAST play. She also added five rebounds and three steals against the Red Storm.
Next time out, at Penn State on Dec. 9, Quaye led Marquette with 19 points, on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor, including a career-best 3-of-4 from the perimeter. The win over the Lady Lions was Marquette's fifth in a row and helped to improve the overall record to 7-1. It ties the best start, through eight games, in program history. Last time the Golden Eagles had as good a start came during the 1999-2000 season, when MU began the year 7-1 en route to a 22-7 overall finish and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Quaye currently leads the Golden Eagles in scoring (15.1), rebounding (7.1), and field goal percentage (.556). She is just 117 points away from becoming the 18th Marquette player to score 1,000 or more points.
