Marquette set to face Houston

The Golden Eagles (18-9, 6-8 C-USA) won the only game between the two teams last year, 65-52, in Houston on January 7.
The 2004-05 edition of Cougar basketball is completely different from a year ago. Led by first-year head coach Tom Penders, Houston (18-10, 9-5 C-USA) has doubled last season?s win total and are currently one of C-USA?s hottest teams, having won four straight and six of their last seven.
"We are excited to be home, but we are playing a very good opponent in Houston,? said head coach Tom Crean. ?They play with such a purpose, have had great wins throughout the season and overall are having a tremendous year.?
Houston is led by senior guard Andre Owens. Considered by most an all-league performer, Owens is averaging 17.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and shooting 39.5-percent from three-point range.
?He (Owens) is one of the premiere guards in our league and a tremendous shooter,? said Crean.
Marquette leads the all-time series with Houston 7-4. The two teams last met in Milwaukee on February 5, 2000, a game that MU won 65-61. Crean is 3-2 all-time against the Cougars.
The Golden Eagles will close out the regular season on Saturday at home against Saint Louis. Seniors Travis Diener, Marcus Jackson and Todd Townsend will be honored in a ceremony following the game.
