Men' Tennis Completes First Day of Boise Tournament

The Golden Eagles fell to the Cornhuskers, 4-2. Ian Kawas had success at No. 3, defeating James Clow, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6. The only other victory for the Golden Eagles came from Brett Binkley who downed Joerg Barthel, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 4. Coach Steve Rodecap was pleased with the effort.
"The guys fought hard," he said. "We didn't win aganist Nebraska but I felt good coming out of it. They are a good team."
Marquette defeated Northern Arizona tonight, 4-1. Troy Delmege was victorious at the No. 2 spot, taking down Henrik Lilja, 7-6, 6-5. The Golden Eagles swept the 4, 5, and 6 spots to carry them on to a victory.
"We had a good team effort," Rodecap said. "Both matches we fought hard. If we continue to have that type of intensity, good things will happen."
Marquette will return to action on Friday where they will face the winner of Montana State Billings and Whitman. The tournament is scheduled to wrap up on Saturday.
