Men' Tennis Falls to Cal Poly
3/26/2005 12:00:00 AM | Men's Tennis
The Marquette duo of Brett Binkley and Pete Van Lieshout were the only doubles team to come up with a victory, taking down Cal Poly?s Travis Crawford and David Jones, 8-6.
?We came out flat in doubles,? said Coach Steve Rodecap. ?It cost us a little bit. We were in a corner and couldn?t dig ourselves out of a hole.?
Heading into singles down 1-0, the Golden Eagles lacked the intensity they needed to come up with any victories in singles play. Troy Delmege was outplayed at No. 2, losing to John Nguyen, 6-2, 6-2. Greg Sirotek played the No. 2 spot, but came up short against Jones, 6-3, 6-2.
?Cal Poly is a good team, well coached,? Rodecap said. ?They deserved to win today.?
Marquette will head to Florida, April 1-3, where they will face USF, Jacksonville, and St. Leo.
