Marquette plays its first match at 2 p.m. against sixth seeded USF. The Golden Eagles and Bulls faced off at the beginning of the month with the match falling to USF, 6-1, after Marquette dropped close matches at key spots in the lineup.
?USF is a very talented program and they are well coached,? head coach Steve Rodecap said. ?We know that we will have to play at a high level to give ourselves the opportunity for an upset. I think both teams will be ready to play.?
This year?s tournament boasts four teams ranked in the nation?s top 75. Top- seeded Tulane is ranked No. 19, the second seed TCU holds the No. 42 spot, third seeded Louisville is currently No. 34 and fourth seeded Memphis stands at No. 74.
This is the last C-USA tournament for Marquette before heading to the BIG EAST conference next year.
?We have mixed emotions going into our last C-USA tournament,? Rodecap said. ?C-USA is a very good tennis league and we will miss the relationships that we have formed throughout our time in the league and during my two seasons here.?
