Golden Eagles open Alaska Shootout with Eastern Washington

The 28th annual eight-team tournament will be held November 22-26 at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, Alaska.
A minimum of four games from the 2005 Shootout men?s tournament will be televised on ESPN2 beginning with the Southern California-Oral Roberts matchup on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 7:30 p.m. AST (10:30 p.m. CST). Another ESPN2 game will be a first-round game between host UAA and defending NIT champion South Carolina on Thursday, Nov. 24, at 6 p.m. AST (9 p.m. CST). ESPN2 will also televise a semifinal game (Fri., Nov. 25, 11 p.m. CST) and the championship contest (Sat., Nov, 26, 9 p.m. CST).
The tournament?s other first-round pairing pits Monmouth vs Southern Illinois at 11 p.m. CST on Nov. 24.
Additional televised games on ESPN?s new college sports channel, ESPNU, may be added to the schedule at a later date.
Marquette will be making its third appearance in the annual tournament. The Golden Eagles claimed the 2001 championship by defeating Tennessee, #20 Indiana and Gonzaga, and in 1981 defeated McNeese State and Iona before falling to Southwestern Louisiana in the championship game. Former MU standout Dwyane Wade earned the tournament?s Most Valuable Player for the team?s championship run in 2001.
