After switching from the no. 1 spot to the no. 2, Eigintas Vederickas raised his level of play and defeated Yohann Nograbat, 7-5(4), 6-3.
?We played a much more five team match which I was expecting out of our guys,? said head coach Steve Rodecap. ?I thought we got a lot of leadership out of Eigis today. He went out there and won and played a good match. I couldn?t be happier with his performance.?
Marquette also saw a win at no. 6, when Pete Van Lieshout came from behind to defeat Oscar Beich in the third set, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.
?Pete had a big win after being down 3-0 in the third set,? Rodecap said. ?He was able to comeback and get the victory and that?s what we need.?
In doubles play Ian Kawas and Vedrickas took down IPFW?s tandem of Carlos Gonzalez and Nabil Mourad Zilho, 8-2. Brett Binkley and freshman Eric Fleming teamed up at no. 2 to defeat Tony Mitson and Daniel Jackson, 8-6. At no. 3, Greg Sirotek and Mario Lopez found success against Landry Nzudie and Nathan Jones winning the match, 8-6.
?From top to bottom of our lineup we had five guys that were out there and were hungry and wanting to be there,? Rodecap said.
Marquette will be back in action for the final day of the tournament tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
