Women' Tennis Set for Wolverine Invitational

Ann Arbor, Mich. ? After a strong showing at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic capturing second place, the Marquette women?s tennis team will continue its fall season at the Wolverine Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan this weekend. Joining the Golden Eagles in competition will be Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Michigan State, Western Michigan and host Michigan.
Juniors Fran Bonnelly, Dominika Dabrowski, and Andrea Bukacek, sophomores Beba Calbeto and Erin Watkins, and freshman Lisa Nguyen will all see action this weekend.
Singles brackets are separated into Blue, Maize and Wolverine Flights. Doubles competition will feature round-robin format with Marquette facing all five teams throughout the weekend.
In the first round of singles play, Calbeto will face Cincinnati?s Jill Klauck while Watkins will matchup against Michigan?s Chisako Sugiyama in the Blue Flight. In the Maize Flight, Dabrowski will face Cincinnati?s Jenny Rowen and Bonnelly will take on Michigan State?s Stephanie Kebler. Rounding out singles play in the Wolverine flight is Bukacek, who will play Carling Arundel of Cincinnati and Nguyen will battle Bowling Green?s Andrea Meister.
In doubles action on Friday, Marquette will play Western Michigan and Michigan in no. 1 and no. 2 doubles, and will match up against Bowling Green in no. 3 doubles.
Action at the Wolverine Invitational will begin on Friday, September 30, and run through Sunday, October 2.
