MILWAUKEE - The Marquette men's basketball season is already fast in gear, not just on the court, but in the stands as well. With tons of promotions and giveaways this season, both the Golden Eagles and their fans are sure to come out winners.
Highlighting this season's promotional schedule will be the authentic autographed and framed jerseys that fans can enter to win during the 45th annual Pepsi Blue and Gold Classic, Dec. 1-2. The jerseys are signed by Butch Lee, Maurice Lucas, Jim McIlvane, Earl Tatum, Doc Rivers, Jim Chones, George Thompson and Don Kojis and can be won at each of Marquette's games during the Classic. In addition to the jerseys, the first 10,000 fans in attendance to the Dec. 1 game contest with Northwestern State will receive a Pepsi Jersey Poster featuring notable Marquette jerseys throughout time. Contests Dec. 5 vs. Delaware State, Dec. 19 vs. Oakland, Jan. 24 vs. Seton Hall and Feb. 7 against Rutgers are OnMilwaukee.com Young Professional's Nights at the Bradley Center. OnMilwaukee.com is against partnering with Marquette to offer this great ticket package for students that for only $20 can receive a ticket to the game, a free pre-game buffet at Mo's Irish Pub and a free shuttle.
Against Syracuse on Jan. 7, West Virginia on Jan. 13, Seton Hall on Jan. 24 and Rutgers on Feb. 7, Cyganiak Planning will be giving away trading cards featuring the 2006-07 Golden Eagles. Attend all four games to collect the complete set.
Feb. 3 against Providence, Marquette will retire the jersey of Dwyane Wade and everyone in attendance will receive a Wade figurine, 2,500 of which will be a limited edition featuring a white jersey.
During the final home game of the season, March 3, against Pittsburgh, ESPN College Gameday will be at the Bradley Center. There will be a halftime ceremony honoring the 30th anniversary of the 1977 championship team, and the game will be considered a "Blue-Out". Everyone in attendance will receive a light blue shirt commemorating the 1977 championship.
Other promotional highlights: - On Dec. 16 against UMBC, the first 10,000 fans will receive a team poster. - On Jan. 7 against Syracuse, the Milwaukee Flyers will put on a halftime show. - On Jan. 13 against West Virginia, Marquette will be celebrating 90 years of basketball. - On Feb. 19 against Villanova, the first 10,000 fans will receive a Steve Novak bobblehead.
