Ellis Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

MILWAUKEE - Following a career high 29 points against Gonzaga, sophomore guard Krystal Ellis was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll announced by conference officials Monday. This is Ellis' second honor roll nod of the season and third overall for the Golden Eagles.
Ellis led all scorers with and tied her career high 29 points in 29 minutes of action in Marquette's 74-60 win over the Bulldogs on Sunday. Ellis was nearly perfect from the field in the first half connecting on 6-of-7 attempts. She made all six of her free throws to register 19 points in the first frame.
Ellis' 29 points are a Marquette single game high for the season. She topped her previous season high of 26 points at Rice on Dec. 3. It was her fourth 20-plus point performance for the season and eighth of her career. Marquette is 4-0 this season when Ellis scores 20 or more points.
Ellis currently leads the team with 17.5 ppg making 47.1 percent from the floor.
In other news, the Golden Eagles hold steady at no. 21 in the AP Top-25 Poll announced this afternoon. Marquette received 230 votes in this week's poll. MU is one of five BIG EAST teams ranked this week. Connecticut stands at no. 6, Louisville at no. 16, DePaul at no. 17 and Pittsburgh right behind Marquette at no. 22.
The Golden Eagles will return to action to look for their 10th straight win when they host Manhattan on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m. Thursday is Marquette campus kitchen food drive.
