Golden Eagles Compete at 2006 Pepsi Challenge

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Marquette men's and women's indoor track & field team competed at the 2006 Pepsi Challenge at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. The Golden Eagles' women's squad won the meet, with 150 points. The men finished second, totalling 138 points.
Kristina Malin won the 400m run in a time of 58.29. Michaela Courtney (2:13.53), Cassie Peller (2:15), and Kaitlyn Chambers (2:20.16) finished 2-3-4, respectively, in the 800m. Colleen Kuenster placed second in the 5,000m run in a time of 18:53.89. Christina Flowers finished second in the 55m dash, clocking 7.54, while teammate Sharon Fritz was fourth (7.68).
Jessica Ehlen captured the weight throw with a heave of 16.18m (53'1") and the shot put with a toss of 13.23m. Christina Flowers was fourth in the long jump (5.06m/16'7 1/4") while Brynn Kosmoski was fifth (5.03m/16'6").(43'5"). Kristin Stoniecki was second in the pole vault (3.45m/11'3 3/4") followed by Carrie Schmid in third (3.35m/10'11 3/4"). The 4x400m relay team won in a time of 4:09.60 while the 4x200m relay was second in 1:49.38.

On the men's side, Scott Mueller and Josh Pinter finished 1-3 in the 3,000m run. Mueller finished in a time of 8:33.41 while Pinter clocked 9:10.25. Antonio Jones won the 55m dash in a time of 6.64 and placed second in the 200m (23.08). Brent Des Roches captured the mile run in 4:15.77. Jed Burey led a Marquette contingency in the 400m run, winning in a time of 50.51. Tom Cassady was second (50.63) while Bryan Bescher was fourth (52.70). David Henderson was third in the 800m, crossing the line in 1:55.97. Scott Allen was third in the 5,000m (15:48.70).
Matt Piekarski won the long jump with a leap of 6.86m (22'6 1/4"). Damian Anisko (16.14m/52'11 1/2") and Mike Bodecker (15.97m/52'4 3/4") finished 2-3 in the weight throw. Zach Pawlowski was second in the pole vault (4.57m/15'0"). The men's 4x400m relay was fifth in 3:36.65. Jeff Kluge was second in the shot put (14.76m/48'5 1/4").
