MILWAUKEE - The Marquette outdoor track & field teams competed at the 2006 Spring Classic at Southern Illinois on March 24-25 in Carbondale, Ill.
The women's team finished seventh overall, compiling 40.33 points. Illinois State won the meet with 147 points. On the men's side, the Golden Eagles were sixth with 54.5 points, while Illinois State captured top honors with 179.50 points.
For the women, Heidi Lindeman captured the 5,000m run, crossing the finish line in 17:39.66. Kristina Malin raced to a 57.81 performance in the 400m dash. Terri Emond was third in the 3,000m steeplechase (11:20.46).
Kristin Stoniecki and Carrie Schmid tied for fourth in the pole vault, at 10'11 3/4" (3.35m). Jessica Ehlen was third in the hammer throw, with a toss of 168'0" (51.20m).

On the men's side, Brent Des Roches won the 5,000m run and Kyle Saginus was third, recording times of 14:38.22 and 14:58.27, respectively. Jeremy Williams and David Henderson finished 2-3 in the 3,000m steeplechase, crossing the line in 9:33.12 and 9:37.47, respectively. Jed Burey clocked 49.65 in the 400m run, finishing seventh overall.
Andy Ballard was fourth in the discus throw, with a toss of 159'01" (48.49m). Nick VanDeraa was fourth in the pole vault 14'0" (4.27m). The 4x400m relay team of Raymond Bratchett, Tom Cassady, Jed Burey, and Jon Shaffer finished second in a time of 3:18.22.
