Manual Resistance Push Ups

| Muscles Used | Primary: pectoralis group. Secondary: anterior deltoid, triceps. |
| Starting Position | Begin in a push up position, arms extended with hands shoulder width apart. Head should be up and body should be straight. |
| Description | Lower chest to touch the ground while keeping head up and body straight. Return to the starting position. |
| Spotting | The spotter should stand over the top of the lifter with both hands on the lifter's shoulder blades. Apply resistance by pushing down. |
| Points To Emphasize | 1. The lifter should keep his/her body straight at all times. 2. If the lifter is unable to return to the starting position, assist the lifter by lifting at the hips. |
