Marquette Track Competes in Two Meets This Weekend

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette men's and women's track & field teams competed at two meets this weekend - the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College in Naperville, Ill. and the Ohio River Challenge at the University of Louisville.
At Louisville on May 13, Jenna Mahaffey placed in several events, finishing third in the hammer throw (167'8"/51.10m), fourth in the shot put (43'7 1/4"/13.29m) and fifth in the discus (134'1"/40.86m). Jessica Ehlen was second in the discus (143'8"/43.80m) and fourth in the hammer (163'8"/49.88m).
On the men's side, Jeff Kluge finished sixth in the shot put (47'0 1/4"/14.33m), sixth in the discus (156'4"/47.66m) and 13th in the hammer (147'11"/44.18m). Andy Ballard was fourth in the discus, with a toss of 161'8" (49.27m), while Damian Anisko was fifth (158'0"/49.27m) and eighth in the hammer (176'4"/53.74m).
At the Dr. Keeler invite on May 12, Raymond Bratchett won the high jump, clearing a height of 6'6 1/4" (1.99m). Jeremy Williams was fifth in the 3,000m steeplechase, in a time of 9:11.40. Bryan Bescher was ninth in the 400m run (50.99), while Antonio Jones was 18th (52.68). Tommy Schmitz was 23rd in the 800m (1:55.61) and Cody Miles was 43rd (1:58.73).
Andy Ballard was eighth in the discus (160'1"/48.79m), while Jeff Kluge was 11th (141'3"/43.06m) and Keith Jamerson was 21st (116'6"/35.50m). Kluge was also fifth in the hammer (147'7"/44.98m).
For the women, Audra Ketelsen and Jessica Ehlen each earned a pair of second-place finishes. Ketelsen threw the discus 143'3" (43.66m), while Ehlen tossed the hammer 167'8" (51.10m). Ketelsen was also fourth in the javelin (106'2"/32.35m).
Lauren Chmielewski was third in the 400m hurdles (1:05.83), followed by Hayley Ford in ninth (1:09.88) and Jasmine Battle (1:11.80) in 10th. Sharon Fritz was 10th in the 100m (13.33) while Jaclyn Muller was fifth in the 100m hurdles (16.12) and 18th in the 200m (27.73). Jasmine Battle was sixth in the 100m hurdles (16.31). Sarah Hunt was 26th in the 800m (2:25.30).
Anne Dwyer and Tara Whiting tied for seventh in the high jump, both clearing a height of 4'10 1/4" (1.48m). Kristin Stoniecki was 10th in the pole vault (11'9 3/4"/3.60m) and Carrie Schmid was 16th (10'10"/3.30m). Christina Flowers finished 17th in the long jump (16'8 3/4"/5.10m).
