Golden Eagles Take Part in Two Track Meets

MILWAUKEE - Several Marquette athletes competed in two meets this weekend - at the UW-LaCrosse NCAA qualfier and the Gregory Track & Field Invite Invite at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
At LaCrosse, Jenna Mahaffey was sixth in the shot put, with a toss of 42'0 3/4" (12.82m). Jessica Ehlen finished right behind her in seventh, with a throw of 41'1 3/4" (12.54m). In the discus, Ehlen finished fifth, with a mark of 138'5" (42.18m), with Mahaffey just one place behind in sixth (136'11"/41.74m).
Ehlen fifth in the hammer, with a heave of 165'9" (50.53m).
On the men's side, Keith Jamerson achieved a qualifying mark for the USATF Junior National Outdoor Championship in the hammer. Jamerson finished 10th overall, throwing the six-kilogram hammer 172'6" (52.57m). The event will be contested on June 23, at the Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind.
Eric Matuszewski narrowly missed the qualifying mark, with a toss of 161'4" (49.18m), good for 15th place. He also finished 14th in the shot put, with a toss of 44'2 3/4" (13.48m). Damian Anisko was 10th in the discus, throwing 147'6" (44.95m).
At the Gregory Track & Field Invite, Amy Stoniecki finished fourth in the javelin, with a throw of 95'8" (29.16m). Her sister Amy was fifth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 11'3" (3.43m). Christina Flowers finished second in the 100m dash, in 12.89, while also placing 13th in the long jump (16'5 3/4"/5.02m).
Kristina Malin won the 400m dash (56.51), while also finishing third in the 200m dash (25.64). Michaela Courtney was second in the 800m, finishing in 2:11.29, while Cassie Peller was fourth in 2:12.87. Lauren Chmielewski placed fourth in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:05.64.
MU's 4x400m relay team was seventh, crossing the finish line in 3:58.21.
On the men's side, Zach Pawlowski was third in the pole vault, with a height of 14'10 1/4" (4.53m). Tommy Schmitz crossed the line in the 1,500m run in ninth place (3:57.37). Bryan Bescher clocked 50.98 in the 400m, good for 11th place. Tyler Merten was 21st in the 800m (1:56.84).
