MILWAUKEE - Marquette volleyball looks to continue its success following a weekend of milestones. The Golden Eagles marked the program's first-ever defeat of Notre Dame in a 3-1 victory Friday and followed that with a 3-1 win over DePaul to give head coach Pati Rolf her 400th career victory.
MU will face the Panthers on Wednesday, Oct. 17 when they meet UWM at the Klotsche Center at 7 p.m. This is the 69th meeting between the two schools with UWM owning a 22-45-1 all-time record over the Golden Eagles.
The Golden Eagles have now won four-in-a-row, improving to 8-8 overall and 5-2 in the BIG EAST to stand alone in third place. MU will put its win streak to the test against a UWM team that has compiled an 18-2 overall record and is in first place in the Horizon League with a 9-1 mark.
"We're excited about tomorrow, Milwaukee's having a great season, they're always a very competitive program," head coach Pati Rolf said. "They are quick and fast and it's going to be a speed oriented game in terms of offense; they keep the ball moving very quickly. It's going to be a good opportunity to work on our speed game as well as our blocking and power. We always look forward to the cross-town match."
Senior Kimberley Todd leads Marquette with 4.72 kills per game and ranks second in the BIG EAST. She is also second on the team, averaging 3.10 digs per game. Senior Katie Weidner is dishing out 11.62 assists per game to lead the Golden Eagles and ranks sixth in the conference, while junior Terri Angst is collecting a team-high 4.29 digs per contest to rank seventh in the BIG EAST.
