Golden Eagles Head to Syracuse

MILWAUKEE - MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette volleyball team looks to return to its winning ways as it travels to Syracuse, N.Y., to take on the Orange on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT. MU is riding a four-match BIG EAST win-streak as it begins a five-match BIG EAST road tilt.
Marquette owns an 8-9 overall record and remains in third place in the conference with a 5-2 record.
Senior Kimberley Todd continued to lead the Golden Eagles as they dropped a 3-1 (24-30, 30-26, 28-30, 21-30) contest at cross-town foe UW-Milwaukee Wednesday night.
Todd hit her 11th double-double of the season and currently leads the team with 4.79 kills per game and ranks second in the BIG EAST. Junior Terri Angst is collecting a team-high 4.29 digs per contest for seventh in the conference. Senior Katie Weidner ranks seventh in the BIG EAST with a team-high 11.62 assists per game.
Syracuse enters the weekend owning a 12-10 record, 3-4 in conference play. Cheryl Cobbina leads the Orange with 3.84 kills per game and ranks ninth in the conference. Cobbina earned a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll for her play last weekend, in which she had a team-high 13 kills in a 3-0 sweep over DePaul. Setter April Quigley is dishing out 10.52 assists per contest, while Joscie Kaup is collecting 4.73 digs per contest. Kaup is third in the conference in digs. As a team, the Orange are right behind MU in digs, collecting 15.79 as a team, for third in the BIG EAST.
Last season, the Golden Eagles posted a 3-1 (30-23, 25-30, 30-19, 30-17) win over Syracuse at Manley Fieldhouse. Todd smashed 19 kills in the victory, while Brown notched eight. Sophomore Hailey Viola collected 19 digs.
Kacie MacTavish netted 17 kills, while Cobbina hit 14 for Syracuse. Kaup collected a team-high 19 digs.
This will be the fifth meeting between the two teams and the series is tied, two matches each.
