Golden Eagles Continue Road Trip

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette volleyball team continues its five-match road swing with stops at Pittsburgh on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. CT, followed by West Virginia on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. CT.
The Golden Eagles are looking to pick up their first road-win of the season after falling to Syracuse 3-1 last weekend.
Marquette owns an 8-10 overall record and is 5-3 in the BIG EAST, tied for fourth place.
"We're looking forward to this weekend," head coach Pati Rolf said. "With our position in the conference now it's important to play well, especially at Pittsburgh with their position in the conference. We just need to play well to put ourselves in a better spot in the BIG EAST."
Senior Kimberley Todd earned a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll following her play last week. Todd averaged 4.88 kills per game and 3.38 digs per game in MU's two matches.
Pittsburgh is 13-10 overall and 6-3 in the BIG EAST, currently fourth place in the conference. The Panthers were 2-0 in the previous week, posting a 3-1 win over Robert Morris and following that with a 3-0 sweep of West Virginia. Pittsburgh is riding an eight-match home win-streak and will be a tough opponent for MU, ranking among BIG EAST leaders in several categories. They rank third in assists, dishing out 14.72 per contest, and are third in kills per game with 15.92. They also trail Marquette in third place with 15.94 digs per game.
Michelle Rossi is the team and conference leader in digs with 4.98 per contest. Diana Andreyko is fifth in the BIG EAST?with 4.10 kills per game, while Emily Burke is dishing out 11.65 assists per game for sixth place.
Last season in Milwaukee, the Panthers pulled out a five-game victory over MU. Kim Todd notched a double-double in the loss, hitting 19 kills and 14 digs.
West Virginia owns a 12-10 overall record and 3-6 in the conference. In its only match of the week, the Mountaineers fell 3-0 to Pittsburgh. Tammy Wolf led with 12 kills and a .556 clip.
Bonnie West ranks fifth in the BIG EAST, averaging 4.44 digs per game and fifth with 0.45 service aces per game. Kristina Gallahan ranks second in service aces woth 0.47 per contest. Abby Tevis is leading the Mountaineers in kills, posting 3.73 per game, while Kailee Goold is dishing out 10.05 assists per contest.
Last season at the Al McGuire Center, the Golden Eagles completed a 3-0 sweep over West Virginia. As a team, the Golden Eagles notched a .348 hitting percentage while holding West Virginia to just a .133 clip.
