Golden Eagles Finish Road Trip

MiLWAUKEE - The Marquette volleyball team concludes a six-match road trip as it stops at Connecticut on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. CT and take on No. 22 St. John's on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. CT.
The Golden Eagles are tied for fifth with Connecticut in the BIG EAST conference with a 5-5 record. They are 8-12 overall.
"We're really excited for this weekend," head coach Pati Rolf said. "The conference is phenomonal right now with eight teams vying for six spots remaining now that St. John's and Louisville have clinched a spot in the tournament. We're looking forward to put ourselves into a good position in the conference."
Senior Kimberley Todd leads the Golden Eagles with 4.79 kills per game and ranks second in the conference. Senior Katie Weidner is dishing out 11.21 assists for the season, while junior Terri Angst is the team-leader with 4.00 digs per contest.
UConn enters the weekend 15-9 overall, 5-5 in the BIG EAST tied for fifth in the conference. The Huskies had a 3-0 week last week earning a 3-0 sweep over Central Connecticut State. UConn defeated Notre Dame 3-1 on Oct. 27 and followed that with a 3-0 victory over DePaul. Sade Chambers notched 21 kills on a .450 clip to lead in the win over the Irish. Jessica Isaac ranks second in the conference with 4.99 digs per contest, while Bridget Denon-Dorman is dishing out 12.10 assists per game, ranking fifth.
Marquette leads the series 3-0, and took a 3-1 victory over the Huskies at the Al McGuire Center last season. Todd notched a double-double with 23 kills and 16 digs in the victory.
With a 24-3 record and 9-1 mark in the BIG EAST, St. John's is ranked 22nd in the nation and second in the conference. The Red Storm went 2-0 over the weekend, completing a sweep of both DePaul and Rutgers. Wioleta Leszczynska dished out a combined 84 assists with 10 service aces, nine digs and eight kills over the weekend. She leads the BIG EAST with 13.84 assists per game. Hui Ping Huang leads the conference with a .423 hitting percentage and ranks third behind Todd with 4.79 kills per contest. As a team, the Red Storm lead the conference in hitting percentage (.277), assists (16.20), kills (17.35) and digs (16.78).
The Red Storm leads the series 2-0 over MU. In Milwaukee last season, the Golden Eagles dropped a 3-0 contest to St. John's. Todd led with 14 kills and nine digs.
