Marquette Set to Host BIG EAST Volleyball Championship

MILWAUKEE - Marquette University will host the 2007 BIG EAST?Volleyball Championship, at the Al McGuire Center, opening with four quarterfinal matches on Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. CT.
No. 22 Louisville and No. 21 St. John's finished the year as BIG EAST regular season co-champions with 13-1 league records, but the Cardinals (20-5 overall, 13-1 BIG EAST) earned the No. 1 seed by way of their 3-0 victory over the No. 2 seed Red Storm (28-3, 13-1) on Oct. 6. Villanova (17-11, 9-5) earned the No. 3 seed while Notre Dame (13-12, 9-5) used a season-ending, four-match win streak to gain the No. 4 seed. Cincinnati (18-10, 9-5) will play as the No. 5 seed, USF (17-9, 8-6) as the No. 6 seed, Connecticut (18-10, 8-6) as the No. 7 seed and Syracuse (21-12, 8-6) rounds out the field as the No. 8 seed.
Quarterfinal action begins Nov. 16 when the No. 4 Irish and the No. 5 Bearcats meet for a 10:00 a.m. CT match. The top-seeded Cardinals follow at 12:30 p.m. CT for a match with the No. 8 Orange, before the No. 2 Red Storm face-off with the No. 7 Huskies at 3:30 p.m. CT. The day ends with a 6:00 p.m. CT match that pits the No. 3 Wildcats against the No. 6 Bulls.
The BIG EAST Volleyball Championship match will air live on ESPNU on Nov. 18 at 3:00 p.m. CT.
