Track & Field Teams Compete at Oregon, Iowa

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette men's and women's track & field teams return to the track this weekend, competing in the Oregon Invitational in Eugene, Ore., and the Musco Twilight in Iowa City, Iowa. Senior Tommy Schmitz, sophomore Scott Mueller and junior Cassie Peller will compete at legendary Hayward Field on the campus of Oregon, Friday, and the remainder of each team will compete on the Cretzmeyer Track on the campus of Iowa, Saturday.

The Golden Eagles are back in action for the first time in two weeks after the Marquette Invitational was cancelled, April 13-14, due to inclement weather. A few throwers, however, did compete in another meet, April 15, the Illinois Invitational. Senior Damian Anisko captured the hammer throw and placed third in the discus, while senior Jenna Mahaffey placed second in the discus, third in the shot put and fifth in the hammer throw to highlight the day.
Last season at the Musco Twilight, seniors Brent Des Roches and Michaela Courtney each set meet records. Des Roches' came in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 9:04.65. Courtney's came in the 3,000m in a time of 9:27.33. She will attempt to defend her title, Saturday.
