Sage In Second In Decathlon at BIG EAST Championships

STORRS, CONN. - Junior Tom Sage is in second place after five events of the decathlon, Friday, at the BIG EAST Track & Field Championships at the Sherman Family-Sports Complex in Storrs, Conn.
Sage scored 3,480 points on the first day of competition, 193 points behind Adam Golembeski of Rutgers.
Sage recorded season bests in all five events in the afternoon. He finished fourth in the 100m in a time of 11.22, earning 812 points. In the 400m, Sage finished third in a time of 50.83, adding 777 points.
In the long jump, Sage's leap of 20-10 was good for sixth place, earning him 664 points. He cleared 6-2.25 in the high jump, tying for third en route to 705 points, and in the shot put he finished eighth with a toss of 34-9.75 for 522 points.
Saturday, the decathlon will continue and field events will begin at 9 a.m. Running events start at 1:30 p.m.
