MILWAUKEE - Marquette senior Damian Anisko was named to the CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Five men's track & field/cross country team, Thursday.
College sports information directors and media relations directors voted on eligible student-athletes from around the country to represent their university on one of the eight district teams.
Anisko, an Exercise Science major from Mississauga, Ont., completed a record-setting year for the Golden Eagles in 2007. He finished fourth in the discus at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships with a throw of 165-3 and sixth at the championships in the hammer throw with a toss of 185-0. He also set the university record in the hammer throw with a toss of 188-9. During the indoor season, he placed seventh at BIG EAST Indoor Championships in the weight throw (57-2). One two others in Marquette history have recorded longer weight tosses.
Anisko is now in the running for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American recognition. Voting will begin on June 12 and honorees will be announced shortly after.
