Milwaukee, - Fresh off a successful opening weekend to the 2007-08 campaign, the Marquette University men's tennis team continues its season with the 32nd Annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic at Western Racquet Club in Elm Grove.
The event, which also includes the MU women's team, begins Friday morning and concludes Sunday afternoon. The men's field consists of Marquette, DePaul, Wichita State and Ball State. The Marquette women's team will host Alabama, Wisconsin and Texas A&M.
"This is a quality event and we are looking forward to playing in front of a large number of supporters," head coach Steve Rodecap said. "It's always a benefit to play on your home courts and hopefully that will translate into some success."
The Golden Eagles posted a 34-9 combined record in singles and doubles at the season-opening Ball State Fall Invitational (Sept. 14-16), which included a perfect 11-0 mark in doubles action.
MU's entire nine-man roster will be competing this weekend as Rodecap experiments with different doubles combinations. Newcomer Dusan Medan made a run to the Flight "A" championship match at BSU and will be looking to continue that success into the weekend.
The upcoming competition marks the first of two fall tournaments hosted by the Golden Eagles, who will also welcome teams to campus Oct. 5-7 for the Marquette Fall Invitational.
