Milwaukee - The Marquette University men's tennis program will be represented by three individuals at the 2007 Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships, hosted by the University of Tulsa this weekend.
"This is one of the most prestigious events in the country and a good opportunity for each of the guys," head coach Steve Rodecap said. "It's a good way to get some exposure to some of the top players in the nation."
Sophomores Niko Boulieris and Dusan Medan, along with junior Trent Hagan, are all entered in the prequalifying draw with hopes of advancing to the qualifying and main draws in early October.
Boulieris and Hagan both earned a first-round bye and will wait for their respective opponent to be determined. Boulieris will face the David Costa (UT-Arlington)/Cuan Farquharson (Oral Roberts) winner Saturday afternoon. Hagan, seeded 33rd in the draw, takes on either Denis Troyke (Oral Roberts) or Drew Bailey (Florida State) based on opening round results.
Medan will have to get past Renato Melo of Nebraska on Saturday morning in order to advance to the second round. Carl Sundberg of Miami, who has a first round bye, will face the Melo/Medan winner.
Hagan competed in the event last season, while both Boulieris and Medan will be making their first-ever appearances.
