MILWAUKEE -
The Marquette women's basketball team (8-4) will play is penultimate game of the non-conference season Sunday, Dec. 28, at Oakland University (8-3, 1-1 Summit League) in Rochester, Mich., at 3 p.m. CT. All of the action from the O'Rena can be seen on Marquette's All-Access player.
Following its game at Oakland, the Golden Eagles will return home to host UW-Milwaukee for its final non-conference game of the season before opening BIG EAST play against USF on Saturday, Jan. 3.
Marquette will be looking to back on track after a home loss against Green Bay, 68-56, in its last time out on Dec. 20. For senior Marissa Thrower, junior Janelle Harris and sophomore Jasmine Collins the trip to Rochester is a homecoming of sorts as the trio hails from Detroit, approximately 26 miles from Oakland's campus. Marquette is 1-0 in the state of Michigan this season, and have won its last three games in the "Great Lakes?State."
The Golden Eagles have won all three of their meetings with Oakland including a 64-51 victory at the O'Rena on Dec. 9, 2006.
The Grizzlies, will play their first home game of the month of December Sunday against Marquette, have put together a string of four consecutive wins. OU claimed wins at UMKC (82-70), at Saint Louis (68-60) and over Texas-San Antonio (70-57) and USC Upstate (64-60) in the Cozumel Cup.
Jessica Pike leads a trio of Grizzlies in double figures with 15.3 ppg. Melissa Jeltema and Brittany Carnago follow with 13.7 ppg and 11.4 ppg, respectively. Collectively, Oakland is averaging 70.3 ppg, while holding its opponents to 64.7 ppg.
