Robinson Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

MILWAUKEE - Sophomore guard Angel Robinson was named the BIG EAST?Player of the Week announced by conference officials Monday afternoon. It is the first player of the week honor for Robinson who was twice named BIG?EAST?Freshman of the?Week during the 2007-08 season.
Robinson had the hot hand in MU's 78-68 victory at Oakland, scoring a career-high 33 points in 24 minutes of action. Robinson shot a stunning 80 percent (12-of-15) for the game and 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from three-point land. Her 12 made field goals and four made 3-pointers were also career highs. With 8:04 left to play in the first half Robinson was a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor with 15 points. She finished the first half with a team high 19 points (8-of-10 from the floor) to help MU to a 36-35 lead.
In the second half, with Oakland trailing by three points (59-56) with 5:19 left to play, Robinson drained her fourth 3-pointer of the game to give Marquette a six-point cushion. Oakland would not come within five points for the remainder of the game.
Robinson also added three rebounds, one assist and a steal in 24 minutes of action.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action to close out 2008 and the non-conference portion of their schedule when they host UW-Milwaukee on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 3 p.m., at the Al McGuire Center.
