Golden Eagles Sweep By Chicago State 7-0

Milwaukee - The Marquette University men's tennis team (9-4) opened its weekend homestand with a 7-0 non-conference victory over Chicago State Saturday afternoon at the Helfaer Tennis & Recreation Center.

The Golden Eagles will wrap up the weekend's play Sunday morning when the squad hosts Buffalo at 10 a.m.

Marquette opened play by sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the point and move ahead 1-0. Senior Brett Binkley and sophomore Mark Rutherford improved to 21-7 on the year with an 8-4 victory at the No. 1 position over Prakoso and Prabowo Imanuel.

MU also swept through singles action, not dropping a set at any of the six positions. Freshman Juan-Martin Paredes made his Marquette debut and responded with a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Cameron Shanklin of CSU.

Also posting singles victories for the Golden Eagles were Trent Hagan, Stephen Shao, Niko Boulieris, Mark Rutherford and Brett Binkley.
