MILWAUKEE - Marquette University senior Cassie Peller has been tabbed a 2008 USTFCCCA Division I Outdoor Track and Field All-Mideast Region selection the organization announced this week. Peller was one of eight individuals to receive the honor in the women's 1,500-meter run.
"Cassie has had a wonderful career here at Marquette," said head track and field coach Bert Rogers. "What a good way to cap off her career by being named to the all-region team. She's really meant a lot to this program. We couldn't be happier for her. It's such a nice honor."
Peller recorded a time of 4:28.29 in the 1,500-meter event, which was the sixth-fastest time at last week's NCAA Mideast Regional held in Fayetteville, Ark. Her personal record in the event is 4:24.55 established during her junior season. She did not qualify for the 2008 NCAA finals.
The accolade adds to a long list of academic and performance-based awards for the Valparaiso, Ind. native. Peller is a three-time All-BIG EAST selection in cross country and a six-time honoree in indoor/outdoor track and field.
Peller is a four-time NCAA regional qualifier in the 1,500 and has an earned All-Great Lake Region honors in cross country. She has recently been named to the BIG EAST All-Academic and USTFCCCA All-Academic teams.
